About Matcha

What is Matcha?
Matcha is powdered green tea that is produced through a process of pulverizing whole matcha leaves into fine powder. It's loaded with antioxidants and vitamins, which means it is definitely something to incorporate into our everyday lives.

Where is your Matcha sourced from?
We import our Matcha powder from Shizouka, Japan. Shizuoka produces a majority of Japanese green tea.

What is the difference between your Ceremonial and Everyday grade?
We suggest those who like to consume Matcha on its own should go for the Ceremonial grade. Ceremonial grade is traditionally consumed during tea ceremonies and best served on its own. This grade offers a deep matcha flavour with hints of sweet umami in every sip.

Our Everyday grade is a premium grade matcha that is strong and smooth, with a rich fragrance. It is an alternative option that offers versatility for those who love to customize their drinks. This grade allows the matcha flavour to shine through any added ingredients.

How to prepare?
Matcha can be served hot or cold.

Ceremonial Grade

  • Sift 2g of Matcha powder into a bowl through a small sifter

  • Pour 60ml of water just below boiling and whisk with a chasen in a zigzag  motion until it becomes frothy. Alternatively, you can use an electric whisk.

  • Top off with 350 ml of water and enjoy!

Everyday Grade

  • Sift 2g of Matcha powder into a bowl through a small sifter

  • Pour 60ml of water just below boiling and whisk with a chasen in a zigzag  motion until it becomes frothy. Alternatively, you can use an electric whisk.

  • Add sweetener of choice and top off with dairy of choice and enjoy!

Do I need a Matcha whisk?
A Matcha whisk (chasen) is definitely not necessary, but we recommend using one since we find that it froths up the Matcha the best. Other alternatives can be used such as an electric whisk or shaking the matcha in a bottle until it becomes nice and frothy.
