Our Story

Usagi Tea was founded by Jessica and Bonnie. What started as an inside joke at first, quickly became a realization that it might be a worthwhile passion project to pursue outside of our corporate careers. Both coming from an Asian upbringing, tea is something we have both consumed and enjoyed since we were both very young. 

Matcha in particular has always been one of our favorite choices of tea for not only the given health benefits, but also for its uniquely sweet umami flavour accompanied by a pleasant bitter taste that cannot be replicated from other tea options. Our shared love for Matcha curated the idea of starting Usagi Tea.

“Usagi" means rabbit in Japanese and this resonated with us because to us, a rabbit symbolizes our youthful days when life was more simple, care-free, and fun. We took the initiative to start this project as a means to bring back that feeling of youth in our adult lives. If you have read this far, we hope you stick around and support us on our journey!
